Terms of Service

Last updated: December 2025

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using Dott ("we," "our"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our services.

2. Service Description

Dott provides limited scope document review services through licensed attorneys. We analyze contracts, legal questions, and AI-generated content, providing written legal memos identifying issues, risks, and suggested revisions.

3. User Obligations

  • You must provide accurate information when submitting documents
  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account
  • You may not use our services for illegal purposes
  • You must not upload documents containing malware or harmful code
  • You agree to comply with all applicable laws and regulations

  • Attorney-Validated Playbook: $29 one-time

4a. Severance Playbook — AI-Generated Analysis

The Dott Severance Playbook is an AI-generated analysis of your severance or separation agreement. It is based on objective fairness criteria and federal employment law (including ADEA/OWBPA, Title VII, WARN, and FMLA). It is not legal advice and does not create an attorney-client relationship.

  • The Playbook is provided for informational purposes only. It may not account for state-specific laws, your individual employment history, or other facts that a licensed attorney would consider in providing legal advice.
  • For state-specific issues or if you believe you have legal claims, consult a licensed attorney in your state.
  • Refund policy: Playbook purchases ($4.99) are non-refundable once the full results page has been viewed. If you have a technical issue preventing access, contact nnamdi@dott.legal.

4b. Legal Services — Separate Engagement

Dott is a SaaS platform. Legal services — where offered — are provided by Nnamdi Nwaezeapu personally, under a separate written limited-scope engagement letter. Purchase of the Severance Playbook alone does not constitute engagement of Nnamdi Nwaezeapu as your attorney or create an attorney-client relationship. Attorney services are governed by the applicable engagement letter, which will be presented separately before any legal work begins.

5. Limited Scope Engagement

Our services constitute limited scope legal representation focused solely on the specific document submitted. This does not create an ongoing attorney-client relationship for other matters. See our Limited Scope Engagement Terms for details.

6. Intellectual Property

You retain ownership of all documents you submit. We retain ownership of the legal memos we create, though you are granted a license to use them for your business purposes.

7. Privacy and Data Security

We take your privacy seriously. See our Privacy Policy for details on how we collect, use, and protect your information.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

OUR SERVICES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE SPECIFIC OUTCOMES OR RESULTS. WHILE WE STRIVE FOR ACCURACY, LEGAL ANALYSIS INVOLVES PROFESSIONAL JUDGMENT AND MAY VARY AMONG ATTORNEYS.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, DOTT SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OUR SERVICES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE SPECIFIC SERVICE GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Dott, its attorneys, and affiliates from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of our services or violation of these terms.

11. Dispute Resolution

Any disputes arising from these terms or our services shall be resolved through binding arbitration in New York County, New York, in accordance with the American Arbitration Association's Commercial Arbitration Rules.

12. Governing Law

These Terms of Service are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict of law principles.

13. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting. Your continued use of our services constitutes acceptance of the modified terms.
